  • 0.333 cups pure maple syrup
  • 0.5 teaspoon maple extract
  • 0.125 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×13 baking pan with baker’s spray and line with parchment paper.
  • Add the diced apples, granulated sugar, and cinnamon to a medium skillet over medium heat. Stir to combine. Cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and maple extract. Beat with an electric mixer until combined.
  • Add the eggs and beat until smooth and fluffy.
  • Gently fold the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until no lumps remain.
  • Remove cooled apples using a slotted spoon and fold into brownie batter.
  • Spread the mixture into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.

Glaze

  • In a saucepan, heat the butter, maple syrup, maple extract, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  • Add the sifted powdered sugar and whisk until smooth.
  • Pour the glaze over the cooled brownies and spread evenly.

Notes

Allow the brownies to firm up before slicing. A little lemon juice on cut apples helps prevent browning. Don't overmix for perfect texture.
