  • ½ cup apple cider or apple juice as an alternative
  • ¼ cup brandy or cognac, dark rum as alternatives
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup adjust sweetness to taste

Fresh Fruit

  • 1 large apple cored and chopped
  • 1 large pear cored and chopped
  • 1 cup cranberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 large orange thinly sliced

Spices & Garnish

  • 2 sticks cinnamon for aroma and taste
  • 3-4 whole cloves use sparingly
  • star anise optional garnish
  • fresh rosemary for garnish, optional

Preparation Steps

  • Begin by thoroughly washing all your fresh fruit. This ensures a clean canvas for optimal flavor.
  • Carefully core and chop your apple and pear into uniform, bite-sized pieces. Slice your orange thinly.
  • In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine your chopped apples, pears, and cranberries. Add the orange slices.
  • Pour in the dry red wine, apple cider, brandy, and maple syrup. Stir gently to combine.
  • Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and optional star anise to the pitcher. Stir gently.
  • Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally 4-8 hours.
  • Before serving, give the sangria a final stir. Ladle into individual glasses and garnish as desired.
