Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour [spooned & leveled]
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter [softened to room temperature]
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar [packed, light or dark]
  • 1 large egg [at room temperature]
  • 1.5 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 2 cups blueberries [fresh or frozen]
  • coarse sugar [optional for crunch]

Lemon Glaze

  • 1.5 cups confectioners' sugar [sifted]
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1-2 tablespoons half-and-half [or heavy cream or milk]

Instructions
 

Make the Cookies

  • Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Set aside.
  • Beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together on high speed until creamy, about 2 minutes.
  • With the mixer on low speed, add the egg, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Beat on medium-high speed until combined.
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients and milk. Beat just until incorporated.
  • Fold in blueberries carefully.
  • Cover dough tightly and chill in the refrigerator for 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Scoop dough and place 3 inches apart on baking sheets. Sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
  • Bake for 15-16 minutes or until the cookie springs back when lightly poked.
  • Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Make the Glaze

  • Whisk confectioners' sugar, lemon juice, and half-and-half until smooth.
  • Spoon over cookies. Allow glaze to set.

Notes

Cookie dough can be chilled for 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Glazed cookies will stay fresh covered at room temperature for 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
