Ingredients
  

For the sandwich base

  • 8 slices thick brioche or challah bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter for the pan

For the filling

  • 4 ounces cream cheese left out to soften
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar plus extra for the final touch
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries cut into thin slices
  • ¼ cup strawberry preserves

For the coating

  • 2 large eggs straight from the fridge
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk

Preparation

  • Mix softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy in a bowl.
  • Spread cream cheese mixture on four slices of bread, avoiding the edges.
  • Arrange sliced strawberries on top of the cream cheese and add a dollop of strawberry preserves.
  • Top with remaining bread slices and gently press to seal.
  • Beat eggs and milk together in a shallow dish.
  • Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating all sides.
  • Heat skillet over medium heat, melt butter, and cook two sandwiches at a time until golden brown.
  • Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels and dust with powdered sugar while warm.
