For the sandwich base
- 8 slices thick brioche or challah bread
 - 2 tablespoons butter for the pan
 
For the filling
- 4 ounces cream cheese left out to soften
 - 2 tablespoons powdered sugar plus extra for the final touch
 - ½ cup fresh strawberries cut into thin slices
 - ¼ cup strawberry preserves
 
For the coating
- 2 large eggs straight from the fridge
 - 3 tablespoons whole milk
 
 
Preparation
Mix softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy in a bowl.
Spread cream cheese mixture on four slices of bread, avoiding the edges.
Arrange sliced strawberries on top of the cream cheese and add a dollop of strawberry preserves.
Top with remaining bread slices and gently press to seal.
Beat eggs and milk together in a shallow dish.
Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating all sides.
Heat skillet over medium heat, melt butter, and cook two sandwiches at a time until golden brown.
Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels and dust with powdered sugar while warm.
